What is fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain throughout the body, accompanied by fatigue and problems with sleep, memory, and mood. People with fibromyalgia may be more sensitive to pain than those who do not have it.

Most people with fibromyalgia are treated with procedures aimed at improving sleep quality and reducing pain. However, many will also require other ancillary treatments such as gentle exercise and massage.

We address relaxing and therapeutic massages as alternative methods to help in the treatment of this disease.

How is it treated?

There is no treatment that cures fibromyalgia, although it can alleviate symptoms and help control pain to improve quality of life. It is in this area where you can act through the application of massage.

Massage to patients with fibromyalgia should always be applied respecting the pain threshold of each person and considering their symptoms. It begins with a gentle pressure, which gradually increases until reaching a bearable pain threshold.

With massage we help the patient to relax their body, have more mobility and, little by little, gain quality of life by helping them to rest better, feel less pain and make massage a healthy habit, which can be combined with different relaxation therapies, gentle exercise, and a good diet.
